Hi, yesterday I found a tiny bit of flea dirt on my dog, but when I searched him I couldn't find any fleas. He has Frontline Plus on him, has been getting it since March. My house has already been treated for fleas already since I found one on him last month and I have vacuumed from 2-3 times a week to just once a week. I've treated my yard recently as well since I believed any fleas may have been coming from there. Should I worry about checking my dog a lot while he has the Frontline on him, or should I just let the frontline do its work and not worry about it?

It sounds like your dog has blackheads. Dogs get
acne and clogged pores, just like humans.

My dog has the same thing around her nipples. Looks like dirt is stuck to them, but it crumbles off when I rub at it. It doesn't seem t bother her at all...

I found two fleas on my dog and lots of flea dirt around her nipples and belly. i treated her with frontline but how do I know if i need to bomb the house? I am afraid this will get out of control and my house will become infested..anyone have any insight?

I'm having the same issue with my cat. He had a very small flea issue earlier this summer, so I treated my entire house, bathed him, used Fronline, the works. Just bathed him again two nights ago, and last night I found quite a bit of flea dirt right above his tail, but no sign of a flea anywhere! It's so strange, I don't understand why I found so much flea dirt literally overnight, but not a flea in sight.

Hey Melissa,

Have you treated your dog at all for fleas? Frontline or some other topical? It sure sounds like flea dirt, and the fact it turned red with water sounds like blood to me. If you haven't treated him for fleas, you might want to get some Frontline, just to be on the safe side.

Otherwise, maybe he just had a few, and he got rid of them some other way. Maybe they just don't like him? Could be he's eating something that turns them off. Hard to say, but knock wood.

Hi Lindsay,

You might still want to treat your dog with Frontline or another topical, just to be on the safe side.

Most of the times fruit flys and nats come from bananas and other fruit so most cases are not pet related. But if you are still not sure talk to your local vet
